1-2-1 (One to One) Sessions
The one-to-one sessions at the PMC Conference offer a rare and valuable opportunity to meet privately with leaders in the craft world. individuals who have registered for the conference may sign up for a 15-minute session on Friday afternoon with the leader of their choice, space permitting. Bruce Baker was a partner in Baker and Baker, Inc. a jewelry design studio that sold through more than 120 galleries. His intensive participation in craft fairs combined with later experience as the owner of a retail store translate to practical knowledge of the craft industry. He has taught more than 500 workshops throughout the United States and Canada on the subjects of Booth Construction, Marketing, Sales, Slide Presentations, Customer Service, Visual Merchandising, Trends that affect the Craft/Gift Business and Jewelry Display.
Lisa Cain is the founder and director of the Mid Cornwall School of Jewellery in England where she teaches classes in traditional metalsmithing techniques and metal clay. She is also the Director of the UK PMC Guild and in that context she has hosted two international PMC symposia. Her work has appeared in many exhibitions and she is a finalist in the 2010 Saul Bell Awards competition.
Linda Darty has an extensive national and international exhibition record, is the author of "The Art of Enameling" and frequently teaches workshops on enameling in this country and abroad. She is the recipient of The Lifetime Achievement Award for Research from East Carolina University, and also The Lifetime Achievement Award from The Enamelist Society. Her work is in numerous public and private collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City.
Alison Lee is the creator and host of the popular online interview program Craftcast. She is a practicing jeweler with broad experience in a wide variety of crafts. As an entrepreneur and leading voice in the contemporary crafts scene, she offers a unique perspective.
Jack Russell is a sculptor, photographer, crafts advocate and longtime director of the Brookfield Crafts Center in Connecticut. He has been a juror, speaker for numerous organizations and a consultant to state and federal organizations, including the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Since leaving Brookfield in 2009, Russell manages a craft consulting business called John I. Russell Associates in Roxbury, Connecticut.
Susan Breen Silvy is a self-taught glass bead artist whose work has been featured in Lapidary Journal, Bead and Button, and 500 Bead. She was the recipient of numerous awards for her glass work and was president of the International Society of Glass Beadmaking at a time when glass bead makers were striving for recognition of their diminutive art form in the world of glass art. Her metal clay work has appeared in several publications including the 2009 and 2008 PMC Guild Annuals.
